Setiap buku punya alur, sama halnya setiap manusia punya cerita. Alur itu yang bisa kau ceritakan ulang. Tak perlu jauh-jauh, sesederhana apa yang kamu pahami? Kalau dari paparan Swami Sarvapriyananda yang masih kuingat, tiap kali baca buku, terapkan ini:
- How can you make your reading more effective? SQ3R (survey, questions, read, recite, review/revise)
- Survey: When you go to a city, look at the map. Here are the important landmarks. You can go everywhere because you will get lost and unable to see anything. Quick look at the content, subheadings, charts, and diagrams. Where am I in this chapter?
- Questions: The motive of learning is "curiosity ", I want to know, then we learn, not depending on the syllabus, because you want to learn in the first place. 5-10 questions keep it on your mind. Now, you are reading not mechanically, you are discovering! Damn! So true! You are curious, you want to know the answer. Questions first, then study, not study first, then study, it is stupid.
- 3R: Reading--"active reading", don't simply read and stare at it. No, keep it pen/pencil, you mark it, what you understood, what you didn't understand. You underline, you take notes, use your hands. 10 hours a day to study, 98 yo. Underlining and making comments. Then, "mentally Recite what the main points are." "Revise" What you don't understand.
