Diskusi Novel Lebih Senyap dari Bisikan

Terima kasih Mbak Andina Dwifatma dan Ocehan Random untuk diskusi malam ini. Hari ini saya belajar:

1. Menulis dengan tidak menghakimi itu jadi jalan yang perlu dilatih untuk memahami kompleksitas manusia.

2. Budaya populer mengajarkan perempuan seolah-olah konfliknya hanya soal perebutan laki-laki. Cerita seperti ini sangat banyak di sinetron, FTV, drama-drama Korea/dracin, bahkan dalam dongeng seperti Cinderella dan Putri Salju. Padahal kisah perempuan sangat lebih rumit dari ia mengandung, melahirkan, hingga membesarkan anak. 

3. Kisah-kisah perempuan yang berada di tengah-tengah seperti tokoh Amara dalam novel "Lebih Senyap dari Bisikan" masih jarang ditulis. Kebanyakan wacana juga, karakter perempuannya jika tidak ia sangat berhati malaikat yang sangat keibuan; ya sebaliknya, karakter perempuan yang binal seperti dalam karya Ayu Utami dan Djenar Maesa Ayu.

4. Pernikahan beda agama seperti yang terjadi pada Amara dan Baron bisa berhasil, asal benar memilih pasangan yang mau diajak komunikasi.

5. Kalau kamu "yakin", jalankan, karena itu panggilan Tuhan dan alam. Lainnya nanti akan mengikuti.
